About Us
Real Honey. No Compromise.
“In 2017 Jack Silberrad hung up his suit and put on his boots to become a beefarmer.
It's what his grandfather did, keeping bees in the Seychelles, Zambia, and Shropshire Hills...”
Bee & Bird bring great British products of the bee hive to artisanal food producers, delis and real food enthusiasts. From runny honey to cut comb and pure refined beeswax, Jack combines age old tradition with stewardship of our natural world.
With our ethos “Real, Seasonal, Delicious” Jack captures the changing seasons in Cambridgeshire by carefully timing honey harvests, producing honey with exceptional character.
With a passion for community outreach, Bee & Bird have held workshops at premiere Cambridge outlets, supplied honey to Michelin starred chefs, and managed apiaries on behalf of clients including Grand Arcade Cambridge, Churchills, Deloitte, Amazon & Entrust.
Ellie joined the Bee and Bird team in 2024. As an accomplished equine dentist caring for horses across Buckinghamshire & neighbouring counties, she now adds a smoker & hive tool to her kit.
With a passion for beekeeping, Ellie is diving deep into the craft, bringing her sharp eye for detail to every hive. Using her skills as keen wildlife photographer, her photography and filming feature prominently in our work.
Assisting with apiary management, queen rearing or sharing insights at workshops, Ellie is finding there is never a dull moment between her work with horses and her new life among the bees!
Stewardship is not just a buzz word; we also consult on and work hard to rehome Cambridgeshire’s feral bee colonies, promote positive action to protect pollinators, and rear a calm, locally adapted queen line. Whilst these ‘Gentle Jacks’ reside on city rooftops and rural field boundaries, our research contributions for PhDs at KCL and KNUST Ghana range a little further.
